Rixonway Case Study

Rixonway have been manufacturing quality kitchens since 1978. Over 30 years expertise and knowledge enables them to supply an extensive range of tailored carcases, ensuring each individual requirement is fulfilled. A comprehensive choice of modern and traditional door finishes is complimented with a wide selection of co-ordinating sinks, taps, worktops, handles and accessories. All of the kitchen furniture is manufactured at the 177,000sqft factory in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire..

A national network of contract designers use their skills and in-depth knowledge to create the kitchen layout, whilst the dedicated contract and sales managers ensures that pre agreed KPI’s are achieved. Rixonway’s dedicated vehicle fleet ensures a 98% ‘on time in full’ delivery at controlled times. Further it guarantees that all carbon emissions generated during the transportation of goods are offset on their customer’s behalf.

 

BACKGROUND

Rixonway had a legacy BT Meridan PABX, which was at capacity and end of life. SICL worked with Rixonway to design a Cisco Unified Communications Manager solution, which met requirements and also consulted on projects for server virtualisation and SAN storage.

APPROACH

Following the successful deployment of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager SICL then installed a VMware/SAN solution based upon the results of a VMware Capacity Planning exercise and project planning.

SICL configured and installed Cisco Unified Communications and VMware for Rixonway Kitchens and migrated existing servers over to the VMware farm. In conjunction with this work SICL also provided Knowledge Transfer to Rixonway IT staff to ensure that they would be able to perform administration functions on Cisco IPT, VMware and the Dell EqualLogic SANs.

RESULTS

Improved communications, server reliability and speed of access has resulted in greater user con-fidence in the network and increased productivity. Rixonway also have improved Disaster Recov-ery resilience thanks to the installation of the Dell EqualLogics and VMware. SICL now provide ongoing 3rd line technical support to Rixonway.
