BACKGROUND
In 2006 following a complete review of IT strategy, Turley Associates and SICL combined to design a new accelerated, fully-meshed, MPLS WAN infrastructure based on Cisco routing, switching and security. The new design accommodated the business requirements of the company and provided a functional, secure, scalable, resilient and predictable network as a solid platform for systems at the company.
Based upon benchmarked network performance the design also facilitated centralised management of data and mirroring for disaster recovery and business continuity.
COMMUNICATIONS
In 2008 SICL implemented Cisco Unified Communications throughout the UK following a review of the company’s communications strategy. Clear benefits were identified from greater collaboration and access to shared systems. The Cisco Unified Communications platform enabled: transfer of calls between sites; uniform communications at each branch office; voicemail via email and ensured consistent handling of all communications channels. The company also benefited from a number of operational and cost efficiencies, in particular inter-site voice traffic being routed through the MPLS saving call costs between sites
