Woolbro Distributors is a leading importer/exporter of hardware, gardening tools and equipment, giftware, fancy goods, toys, household and Christmas products with over two thousand product lines, and has 20 retail locations in the north of England.
BACKGROUND
Whilst consolidating two premises into one Head Office in Bradford, Woolbro approached SICL to discuss its requirements. It took this opportunity to upgrade some of its legacy equipment and expand the functionality of its systems, to accommodate an IP phone system and additional users. The new premises required additional cabling and refurbishment of a dedicated IT Comms Room to specifically house the servers in addition to wireless connectivity between the two buildings. Woolbro also required the physical relocation of its systems to be a seamless operation with minimal affect on the business.
APPROACH
SICL designed a HP ProCurve 5372 & 2626 core network infrastructure providing a seamless migration and interconnect with the telephone system. SICL then provided expert re-location services and arranged support throughout the project. As part of the network design SICL also specified and installed Aironet 1300’s to provide a wireless bridge between buildings.
RESULTS
After a successful implementation Woolbro Distributors was able to reduce operational costs whilst improving staff communications. This in turn improved Woolbro’s customer service. Woolbro’s staff quickly realised the benefits of the new system, such as increased reliability and all applications available on the LAN therefore improving staff productivity. There was no disruption to the business as SICL installed and commissioned the system outside of working hours.
