The fire started in an adjacent building to the Race HQ in Northampton but quickly spread destroying the Seat Supercopa race car along with the transporter and every bit of the race team's equipment. Fortunately no-one was hurt but the prospects for the 2011 Britcar season looked at that stage to be grim.
The Britcar team are though a very determined bunch and, with the insurance sorted, the hunt to replace the car and equipment began almost immediately. SICL is therefore very pleased to announce that the team will be ready for the first race of the 2011 season at Silverstone on the 26th March.
The new car is a Ginetta G50. It is a British built mid-engine GT car, powered by a 300bhp 3.5 litre V6 with a lightweight GRP body and fully adjustable suspension.
The SICL Britcar team is back in business and now looking forward to the new season. As always the offer to come to the races, support the team and have a great day out is extended – please see www.sicl.co.uk/Britcar.html or contact your SICL Account Manager.
