There is no point in being a successful company if you can’t share that success with your local community. We provide excellent careers for people but we believe passionately in doing what we can to enhance the lives of those who live near us. That is why we decided to help those who help others.
Happy people are healthier. That’s how we feel about our employees and our clients. But we also choose to take that further. We support three vital organisations in order to help them improve the quality of life for people in desperate circumstances. Becoming their technology partners has been an emotionally rewarding experience and reminds us all that these choices really do make a difference.
This is arguably the toughest air ambulance service to operate when you consider that Yorkshire is definitively the largest county in the UK. Since their launch in 2000 they have rescued nearly 8,000 people. Getting someone to hospital within an hour is one of the primary survival rate factors and the helicopters can reach people in remote, inaccessible areas and race them to the hospital at a top speed of 165 miles per hour (more than twice the road speed of an ambulance).
As a corporate sponsor SICL is, in effect, IT for the charity, providing ServiceDesk and ‘man-on-site’ support, IT equipment free-of-charge and leveraging charity status with vendors:
Jarrod Potter, SICL Managing Director
One of the genuinely fulfilling things about working with cutting edge tech over the last 30 years is the knowledge that we really are making the world a better place. When Bill Gates announced that he wanted a computer on every desk, in every home, even he didn’t realise how quickly that would happen. Plug in the World Wide Web and now people from all over the world can self-educate to a level previously unattainable. Here at SICL we are more than aware that our collective technical knowledge within our employees is huge and we know we have a responsibility to try and share all those learnings. That’s why we operate our apprenticeship scheme. Some companies treat apprentices as a cheap labour opportunity but we believe that today’s apprentices will be tomorrow’s CEO’s and pioneers.
We know that tech uses a lot of materials that don’t degrade easily. Clearly that is massive calling to ensure that the way we operate has a little negative impact on our world as possible. From point to point delivery to recycling and rare earth metal reclaim, we have our eye firmly where it is needed. As such, as part of our services we have a range of options around delivery, recycling and wider environmental impact.
Twenty years ago it was not unusual to see skips full of VDUs, keyboards and PCs outside office buildings. As a partner to some of the biggest technology companies in the world we have always taken the lead when it comes to our environmental responsibilities. Today, sustainability remains the choice of the individual business and we choose to do the right thing.
We have 4 core values that we live and breathe daily to create a delightful working environment that gets the very best out of our people. When we get it right for our employees, they give epic service to our customers. We employ the sort of people who switch their PCs off at 5.30pm, drive home, fire up their own PCs and continue to learn. Wow, what an amazing bunch of driven people, probably the most motivated you will ever meet.
As one of the UK’s pioneers of cloud technology we are regularly involved in thought-leading opinion pieces whether they be supplying keynote speakers or offering industry insights and leading-edge advice which is routed in practical experience. We are always happy to work with journalists and editorial organisations looking for spokesperson advice or syndicated content.
Contact us and our media team will be in touch.
We are always open to new ways to give back to the communities that we live in. If you would like to partner with us on a Corporate Social Responsibility project or goal please tell us all about it with an overview of your proposal and we will happily take a look. Our help could range from technology support and assistance for your organisation or event, to a full blown, epic vision to improve the futures of a group of people in need. All of the SICL team are charged with making people’s days better. Perhaps that will be you too.
